Have you ever received a beautiful, new embroidered or smocked outfit and looked at the other side? If you do it looks knotted, messy and quite unsightly to the common eye. If you were not able to flip it over to the "finished" side, you would never know the true beauty or even the purpose of all those knots and tangled messes. You would think it was simply that, a big mess! The same is true about life. When we are in the midst of a trial or hardship, we feel like that ugly clump of thread; hopelessly trying to untangle and escape all the knots. However, what if the knots and tangles we are experiencing are in fact being intricately woven together, through skill and pattern, knowing the outcome will be beautiful with time and patience. Isn't this what the Heavenly Father does with the messes of our lives? He turns them into something beautiful. God does not promise to give us an easy life on this earth, but He does promise to work it all together for good. The Bible talks about not looking at what is "seen" (the mess!) but what is unseen. The things that are seen are temporary, but what is unseen will be eternal. Even when the threads of our lives seem knotted, we can know by faith, that on the other side of the embroidery there is a crown!
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 "For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
